Severn Trent Water – water mains renewal
Planned Works for Derwen – The Bryn Junction to Gornal, Iron Mills junction via The Bryn to Ebnal Hall Junction, Iron Mills to Ebnal Lodge Junction, Junction with B5009 to Iron Mills Junction, Gobwen
Severn Trent have confirmed that the work, originally planned for August 2019, will now commence August 2020, and they expect these vital works to be completed December 2020. A detailed programme of works has been planned and this information will shortly be communicated with the local and surrounding community.
BIKE TRAIL AT BRYN y CASTELL COPPICE
The Selattyn and Gobowen Parish Council has noted the construction of a Bike Trail at Bryn y Castell Coppice (BYCC). There are no permissions in place for this trail.
The BYCC Conservation Group has worked hard to maintain and develop the Coppice, planting saplings, maintaining and encouraging a habitat for all forms of plant and animal life. Sadly, the trail has had a detrimental impact on this work and the use of the trail is impacting on the residents in Fernhill Lane, which backs onto BYCC, and other members of the local community.
The Parish Council recognises that everyone is entitled to ‘quiet enjoyment’ of their surroundings and that provision needs to be made for outdoor activities of many kinds. Seeking to balance these is often problematic. However, the development of such provision needs to take place in a suitable location, with appropriate consultation, which protects the interests of residents and provides a safe place for recreational activities.
The Council wishes to work with those seeking to use the trail, residents, and Shropshire Council and to ensure that all interests are considered and achieve a satisfactory outcome, and invites anyone with an interest in improving the arrangements for recreation (for children, young people and adults alike) in the Parish to contact the Parish Clerk, preferably by email at clerk@selattynandgobowenpc.org.uk.

War memorial and Village Planters – updating
I am pleased to say that despite the Covid 19 pandemic, it is our intention to maintain the appearance of the War Memorial and our village planters.
We are working with Derwen College again and students will be planting these up. It is expected that they will be returned in June.

Help Is Available This May Bank Holiday
– Just Contact NHS 111
‘Help is available this May bank holiday’, say GPs in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
NHS 111 will be available to contact, and practices will be open across the county during normal opening times on Friday, 8 May – although you may be asked to attend a different practice if you need a face-to-face appointment.
Pharmacies will also be open between 2pm and 5pm, with some pharmacies planning to open for longer.
Residents are advised to check practice and pharmacy websites for opening times as well as specific arrangements for the May bank holiday.
Also open are Urgent Treatment Centres at the Whitchurch and Bridgnorth Minor Injury Units, which have been temporarily relocated from the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.
Health bosses at the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are urging people not to hesitate to seek help if they have any health concerns.
Help is available either by calling NHS 111, free from any landline or mobile, by visiting 111.nhs.uk, or contacting your GP practice directly. People should only attend the premises if they have a pre-booked appointment.
